Our Story: A Family-Owned, Women-Run Boutique in Alabama
Mission Statement
Born To Be Sassy is a family-owned boutique in Alabama, run by mom-and-daughter team Amy and Madison. Our mission is to create affordable, everyday styles that help women feel confident, comfortable, and a little bit sassy—whether they’re running errands, teaching in the classroom, or cheering from the stands. We believe in faith, family, and adding a playful touch of personality to every outfit.
About Us
Born To Be Sassy started as a little dream in a spare room and has grown into a family-run boutique that ships sass all over the country. What began as a children’s clothing business has now become a go-to spot for women who love comfy, affordable, and a little bit sassy style.
Our story actually started back when our shop was called Lollipops and Gumdrops. Amy launched the business when Madison was just two years old, and by the time she was four, Madison was already modeling children’s outfits. She’s grown up in front of the camera and in the middle of this business—today she’s 25 and still modeling almost every piece you see on the site.
Now, as Born To Be Sassy, we’ve shifted from tiny ruffles to tees, sweatshirts, monograms and more that women can live in. We’re an Alabama-based, family-owned boutique, and we still see this brand as a calling, not just a job.
Today, Born To Be Sassy is run by mom-and-daughter team Amy and Madison, with Heath (husband/dad) overseeing production and shipping behind the scenes to keep everything moving. Outside of Heath, our team is women-run from top to bottom—women designing, modeling, printing, embroidering, packing, and caring for every single order.
Every graphic tee and sweatshirt is hand produced in-house by our team of women. They print orders, design your monogram/custom text, lay out custom team and school designs, embroider, print graphics, design and cut vinyl, answer phones, emails, as well as social media comments, and carefully pack and ship each order. Nothing is mass-produced or sent off to a third party. Our team takes pride in checking and double-checking that every order looks right before it leaves our facility. When your package arrives, it’s passed through real hands that truly care about getting it just right.
Every single item we make is custom made to order. That’s how we’re able to offer so many options in one design—short sleeve, long sleeve, sweatshirts, lots of tee and sweatshirt colors, and a wide range of sizes from youth XS through 5XL. When you place an order, our women’s team sets it up exactly to your specifications, from design and color to size and style. Nothing is pre-made and sitting on a shelf. Your order is truly made just for YOU, and our team takes pride in designing, printing, embroidering, and checking and double-checking that everything looks right before it leaves our facility.

When we first opened, our racks were full of children’s outfits. As Madison grew, so did the business. Over time we shifted into a women’s boutique known for:
